What do you do at Mid-Cities?

As pastor over Mid-Cities Men’s Ministry, it is our ministry goal to assist men to be the man that God wishes for him to be. Secondly, as the Assimilation pastor, it is our goal to connect every person desiring to be part of Mid-Cities to a group or serving opportunity.

When did you feel called to ministry?

In the spring of 2003, I sensed God stirring me that change was coming. This pressing of the Holy Spirit prompted Becky and I to much prayer and seeking God. Even though Pastor Kevin York invited me to be an elder at Mid-Cities in April of that year the stirring continued, not only in me, but in Becky as well.

As always, God wishes to make things interesting, Pastor Kevin asked me to have a cup of coffee at IHOP in July 2003 and his invitation to come on staff as an associate pastor was a complete surprise (by the way, the stirrings stopped!) After a week of seeking God’s will, we trusted God to sell our business and our warehouses. We believed that if God could overcome those challenges, then it was His plan and not ours. Within sixty days, our business was sold and our warehouses were under contract! I began full time at Mid-Cities October 1, 2003.

When and why did you choose Mid-Cities?

Becky and I began attending Mid-Cities in November 1992 at the suggestion of a friend from Washington State. What we found was a church based on the truth of God’s Word, the authenticity and transparency of founding Pastors Russ and Debbie Austin, and strong relationships that exist within the Mid-Cities body as found in the Acts 2 church.

What are you most excited about when it comes to your specific area of ministry?

God has truly blessed our church by bringing many families through our doors, that are seeking God for the first time or wishing to reestablish their relationship with Him. By sending new families, the Father trusts us to connect them to Jesus and others in the church for a blessed journey of discipleship.

Who are you, really?

As one of many men that have passed through the doors of our church, I am living proof that God can do a miracle of redemption, reconciliation, and restoration. I enjoy playing golf. (Is that a sin?) On a brighter note, I have a devoted wife and partner of forty-four plus years of marriage and we are blessed with two wonderful daughters and four amazing grand children!
