What do you do at Mid-Cities?

I have the joy of ministering to elementary kids and their families. Every week, I get to see kids learn about God and grow in a life-long relationship with him.

When did you feel called to ministry?

I felt God calling me to full-time ministry during a youth conference my sophomore year of high school. My dad and brother are both ministers of music, so the obvious choice was to go into worship ministry. I went to Hardin-Simmons University in the Fall of 2002 and began a degree in church music. I quickly realized, though, God's call on my life was different. Since then, God has used me in Worship Ministry, Student Ministry, and now Children's Ministry. I have realized that God's call on my life is simply to be used by him wherever he leads. I love working with young people, so working with our elementary students is a blast. I love seeing kids choose to live their lives for Christ.

When and why did you choose Mid-Cities?

My wife, Jenna, and I moved to Midland in August 2011. When we first visited Mid-Cities, I felt at home and knew that this is where God would lead us to plug in. As we continued to visit churches, we got connected to a Mid-Cities life group. Our life group immediately began to minister to us as we struggled with our recent move. Our life group prayed for us and encouraged us in one of the hardest times we have experienced as couple.

As we began to get more serious about membership at Mid-Cities, we started attending Connect Four. Connect Four helped us learn about the history and beliefs of the church. Finally we realized that Mid-Cities was where God had called us to serve him.

What are you most excited about when it comes to your specific area of ministry?

I love working with kids! It is a joy to see kids engage in Bible stories for the first time and memorize Scripture that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Most of all, though, I love to see kids trust Jesus with their lives. One of the greatest parts of Children's Ministry is seeing kids begin a relationship with Christ and seeing their faith in him grow.

Who are you, really?

I love to have fun! One of my favorite things to do is hang out with a large group of people. I also enjoy playing guitar and video games. I am married to a beautiful and caring woman named Jenna. We have two beautiful black labs, Lucy and Sadie.
