Marriage Coaches
At Mid-Cities we have no professional counselors on staff. We believe that marriage issues can be solved with experience, wisdom, the word of God, and the leading of the Holy Spirit. As a result, we have designated a number of couples that are seasoned in successful marriages, spiritually mature, Spirit-led and gifted with wisdom. These couples are designated as “marriage coaches” who will come alongside a couple who need some direction, encouragement, prayer, and accountability for making changes in their marriage.
We require these coaching couples to be members at Mid-Cities and to have been in a healthy marriage for at least five years. We also provide these coaches with some training and tools to help them maximize their effectiveness with struggling couples.
In addition, we want to make sure that our coaches are in agreement with us regarding the theological foundations of marriage and in agreement with us regarding our response to spouses that are considering divorce. We know that divorce is sometimes unavoidable but we believe that our first response is to do everything possible to salvage a marriage and to maintain biblical standards for this covenant.
We ask that our marriage coaches be willing to meet with a struggling couple for one to six sessions and that they would be willing to work with at least two couples per year. Our marriage coaches will have pastors as a resource for prayer and coaching strategies.
If you feel that God is calling you to help struggling marriages by being a marriage coach you may contact pastors Tom Vermillion or Mickey Eckles to discuss your part in this ministry.
